I've Been Meaning To Do Something...
This probably isn't it but it's a start.
I’m not entirely sure what this place will become yet. Probably a mix of philosophical ramblings, the odd photograph, a few stories from the edges of a day, and somewhere in the chaos maybe a bit of wisdom if I’m lucky.
By profession, I manage a charity shop. Most of my hours are spent among discarded things with their own quiet histories: books that still smell faintly of dust and almonds; trinkets that glint like fallen glitter in the cracks of the storeroom; and, now and then, people who feel a little lost and wander in looking for an outlet.
People find comfort in what they bring, and I try to offer the same in return. I’m not much different from anyone else a man who’s met burnout and depression up close and now runs mostly on cheap coffee, goodwill, and the stubborn belief that small things still matter. There are stories in that, too.
Until I figure out exactly what this space will become, here’s a photo of a robin.
It felt appropriate.
In old myths, the robin’s red breast came from carrying fire from heaven to humankind. In others, it appears on Christmas cards as a symbol of renewal. Some say a robin means a loved one is nearby. I’ve always liked that one.
In a world obsessed with speed, efficiency, metrics, and the constant drone of burnout culture not to mention misinformation lurking in every corner I hope this space gives you a moment of quiet, and maybe a small piece of value.
Best wishes,
Rowan
